Accelerate VI (AVI), a program designed by the UVI RTPark to help early-stage tech companies grow and scale their business from the U.S. Virgin Islands, was among 84 winners across the United States—including 48 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia—who support innovation, inclusivity, and equity within the entrepreneurship ecosystems of their respective communities. Each winner was awarded a $50,000 grant to support entrepreneurs developing STEM-related innovations. This is the first time the U.S. Virgin Islands has been selected as a winner in this competition.

The Research and Technology Park (RTPark) has selected eight startups to participate in Cohort 2 of its business accelerator and demo day. The program, originally slated to take place at RTPark’s new coworking space in downtown Christiansted has been converted to a virtual curriculum designed to offer mentorship, guidance, advisory support, access to capital and an assortment of startup perks for the budding enterprises.

Accelerate VI will be offering up to (7) startups led by ambitious entrepreneurs from around the world the opportunity to gain access to community, mentorship, work space, capital, international development resources, and more in our second accelerator program starting on April 13th in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

The Research and Technology Park, called the RT Park, has launched two programs aimed at advancing economic development in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The first, an accelerator program that provides help to tech startups in the territory, will launch later this year with six companies, five of which are locally-owned.
